We’re about to leave the sweltering Summer weather behind and we’re on the back slope of the peak (but not the end of!) hurricane season — must mean that it’s festival season in Louisiana!
October is a particularly abundant month for music lovers. Every weekend has at least one festival that’s worth visiting. For each of the four weekends of the month they are, respectively:
- Gretna Heritage Festival (metropolitan New Orleans) and the Ponderosa Stomp (New Orleans)
- Festivals Acadiens (Lafayette) and the Voice Of The Wetlands Festival (Houma)
- Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival
- Blackpot Festival (Lafayette)
Throw in the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival on the 2nd weekend in November and it’s six weeks of almost solid festivals. The real dilemma is which festival(s) to choose and which festivals and performers you can stand to miss.
Get ’em on the calendar now and we’ll be posting detailed updates as each one approaches.
