… kudos to the organizers of the Rhythm ‘n’ Roots Festival in Charlestown, Rhode Island, held every year on the weekend before Labor Day. This year it featured lots of excellent music, plenty of dance opportunities, and a healthy representation of Louisiana musicians — the Red Stick Ramblers and their doppleganger, The Revelers, Steve Riley, Yvette Landry (boot-scootin’ honky-tonk), Roddie Romero, Feufollet, Cedric Watson, Geno Delafose, Corey Ledet (rockin’ the dance floor), and others.
Ya gotta love it – purple, green, and gold! You can be 1500 miles from New Orleans and half a calendar year away from Carnival yet still be surrounded by its spirit.
Put it on your calendar for next year – every Labor Day weekend.
