There’s a big opening celebration for Martin Luther King Day, starting today at 3:00 P.M. Bring yo’ axe and your appetite!
The lounge opened in the mid-90s and was run by Ernie K-Doe until his death in 2001. His wife Antoinette picked up the mantle until her death in 2009. Antoinette’s daughter, Betty Fox, tried to keep it going, finally giving up in 2011.
Kermit Ruffins acquired the venue in 2011 but, other than the odd one-off Mardi Gras party, hasn’t had it open on a regular basis.
Welcome back! “Burn, K-Doe, burn!”
