Music Gumbo, Louis Armstrong Park and the Live Music Night On The Town
– Great Walking Music Adventures –
Music Gumbo – A two-hour walking tour through the French Quarter and Armstrong Park. We created the genre of walking music tours with Music Gumbo. Your guide stories and plays snippets of original recordings. It’s the 250-year history of the politics, the people, the instruments and culture – the Music Gumbo of our city. The rich gumbo that sets New Orleans as the most influential city in popular music. A toe tapping tour popular with grownups and students.
Night On The Town – Just like the locals do we plan the night based on who is playing where and at what time. We love to show off the locals favorite – the Frenchmen Street district. The variety of music and styles is phenomenal. A turn of the century shopping district now converted to live entertainment and dining. Unplanned parades and street corner bands may inspire you to stop and join the action. It is a fresh new tour every night.
Armstrong Park Music Tour – The only tour of New Orleans historic Louis Armstrong National Jazz Park. Just inside the park gates the history of jazz begins over two hundred and fifty years ago in Congo Square. Throughout the beautiful 32 acre park are statues, monuments and plaques rarely seen and stories never told. Of course, a tall bronze Louis Armstrong stands of surrounded by likenesses of Buddy Bolden, Sidney Bechet and dozens of musicians who from the 1920s through the 1980s influenced the sounds of jazz, the beginnings of rock ‘n’ roll and the melding R&B passing through on the chitlin’ circuit.
